3. Educational Qualification

For LDC / JSA

You should have passed Class 12 / Higher Secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University by the prescribed cutoff date.

For DEO

Generally, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent.

However, certain specified DEO/DEO Grade 'A' posts require Science stream with Mathematics as a subject in Class 12. Therefore, candidates should check the specific post requirements before selecting preferences.

Important

If you are currently studying in Class 12 and your result/certificate will not be available by the prescribed qualification cutoff, you should not assume that you are eligible. The qualification must satisfy the conditions in the 2026 notification.

4. Age Limit

For SSC CHSL 2026, the general age limit is:

18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2026.

The reported date-of-birth range for candidates without age relaxation is:

2 August 1999 to 1 August 2008, inclusive.

Age relaxation

Relaxation is available to eligible categories according to Government rules, including categories such as:

  • SC/ST
  • OBC
  • PwBD
  • Ex-Servicemen
  • Certain other categories specified by SSC

The exact relaxation depends upon the candidate's category and applicable Government rules.

5. Nationality

Candidates generally need to satisfy SSC's nationality/citizenship conditions. This includes Indian citizens and certain other persons specifically covered under the eligibility provisions of the notification.

For most Indian applicants, this is straightforward: Indian citizenship satisfies the normal nationality requirement.

6. Number of vacancies

Approximately 2,536 vacancies

This is an initial/tentative total.

SSC has not yet provided the final detailed post-wise and category-wise breakup in the information currently available. The number can change depending upon requirements received from participating departments.

So, don't assume that all 2,536 posts are LDC, or all are DEO—the final distribution between posts and categories will be provided by SSC.
